Stare, Pry, Listen

Stare.
It is the way
to educate
your eye,
and more.

Stare, pry,
listen, and
eavesdrop.

Die knowing
something.

You are not,
here long.

~Walker Evans

In case you missed it, I had a birthday this week. In case I wasn’t eloquent enough, I am grateful.

  • Life has become less and less about things, and more and more about experiences
  • I am ferociously in love
  • I am surrounded by beautiful, caring, compassionate people – even though most are separated from me by miles and oceans
  • I want more music in my life
  • We’re about to embark again and we’re ready; locked and loaded Reed style
  • Windows that open in hotel rooms are magical
  • I adore any and all of you that associate me with a mythical, magical being
  • Coconut water may have allowed me to see my 42nd birthday
  • I am solar-powered
  • There needs to be more spoken word and poetry around me
  • There will never again be settling
  • I do not like lazy; I love life
  • I ate bread and I did not perish
  • Being next to a winner is almost as awesome as being one. Almost…
  • He says his job in this relationship is to keep me smiling. Everything else will fall into place
  • While judgement and snarkiness has its place, meanness and bitterness needs to depart my space
  • That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse

There is simply not enough gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Stare, pry, listen, and eavesdrop every single day…
